Introduction

ActiveSync is the preferred synchronization mode as it allows you to synchronize messages as well as contacts and calendars while IMAP synchronization is restricted to messages.

To find out more, please go to Synchronizing with mobile phones and tablets.

Remarque

This guide was written using one particular model of iPad. Screenshots are usually identical on all Apple products although they may vary depending on the version used.

Setting up an ActiveSync account

Remarque

Being able to connect a smartphone to the BlueMind server depends on the authorization policy defined by administrators. Make sure you check with your administrator whether you are indeed authorized to connect with a smartphone. In particular, some configurations require an administrator's manual authorization.

Please refer to the following page: Configuring the EAS server.

In your device, go to Settings > "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" section and tap "Add Account":

Choose to add an Exchange account:

Fill in the user information (The description is entirely up to you. It will be used to identify the account on the device) and tap "Next" in the upper right corner:

Fill in the detailed server information:

  • Email: your email address
  • Server: the address (URL) through which your phone accesses the ActiveSync service. It is typically called external URL and is similar to the address you are using to access BlueMind (excluding https://).

  • Domain: your email domain name, usually the part of your email address to the right of the @.

  • Username and password: your BlueMind user name and password the way they were given to you by your administrator. Usually, your user name is your full email address including the domain name.

  • Description: this is optional. It allows you to recognize the account in your list of accounts.

Tap Next.

Your iOS device will then try to connect to your BlueMind server.

Once the connection is complete, you can choose the items to synchronize, and tap "Save":

Info

Only personal address book "My Contacts" is synchronized with your smartphone's contacts. You can access contacts from other address books (Directory, Collected contacts, etc.) through your smartphone's search function (contacts, emails, etc.).

Your account is then shown in the list of accounts on the device:

Tapping the account name will give you access to the synchronization settings page (items to synchronize, duration):

Congratulations! Your device is now synchronized with BlueMind!

Forcing the calendar to refresh

Info

This part of the guide was written using an iPad running iOS 8.4.

In the Calendar application, open the displayed calendars' window:

Tap and drag downwards:

The spinning wheel is displayed, showing that the device is synchronizing the calendars:

When the spinning wheel goes away and the window returns to normal, refreshing is complete.

Shared calendars

User and domain calendars will be shown only, resource calendars are not available yet.

To show or hide the calendars other users have shared with you, you must first subscribed to them in BlueMind. To do this:

  • go to Settings:
  • in the Calendar section > Subscriptions tab, use the "Add a calendar" box to add those you want to see:

Click save to confirm once the list is complete.

    Astuce

These calendars will also appear in the "My Calendar" default view in the BlueMind UI.

Once subscriptions are set, go to the Calendar application to view the calendars:

Under the relevant account, check or uncheck the calendars you want to display by tapping their name in the list. A checkmark is shown before the calendars currently displayed:

To customize calendar colors, tap "Edit" at the top of the window, select a calendar and next select a color for it:

Tap OK to confirm the changes until you return to the first window. Changes are immediate, the events previously shown in brown are now shown in blue:
